DEUTZ Enters Engine Supply Agreement with Japanese Construction Machinery Manufacturer Takeuchi

DEUTZ has recently formed a collaboration with Takeuchi Mfg. Co., Ltd, a prominent Japanese company specialising in the production of compact excavators and tracked carriers. Founded in 1963, Takeuchi is a leading manufacturer in the construction machinery sector.

Starting from mid-2016, Takeuchi will equip its new TB295W wheeled excavator and TB2150 tracked excavator with DEUTZ’s TCD 3.6 diesel engine.

These engines meet the stringent Stage 4 emissions standards applicable in Japan, as well as EU Stage IV and US EPA Tier 4 Final standards. The exhaust aftertreatment system adheres to the required regulations and includes a diesel oxidising catalytic converter (DOC) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. In markets with more rigorous regulations such as Switzerland and for municipal applications in Germany, a diesel particulate filter (DPF) is utilised. By incorporating DPF, the machines also comply with the upcoming EU Stage V regulations set to take effect in 2019.

DEUTZ’s water-cooled, four-cylinder in-line engine delivers a power range of 55.4 to 100 kW at 2,200 revolutions per minute. The engine’s compact design and modular system of optional add-on components offer enhanced flexibility and reduced installation costs for customers.

DEUTZ’s DVERT® (DEUTZ Variable Emission Reduction Technology) system is modular as well, allowing it to meet specific requirements across various markets with the standard DOC/SCR solution and the optional DPF/SCR solution. For Takeuchi, the complete exhaust aftertreatment system is supplied as a fully assembled drop-in solution, simplifying the installation process.

Mr. Hiroshi Yokoyama, Research and Development General Manager at Takeuchi, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, stating: “We are delighted to be partnering with DEUTZ for our Stage IV excavators. The modular exhaust aftertreatment system brings significant benefits to us, and we greatly appreciate DEUTZ’s expertise in exhaust technology.”

Michael Wellenzohn, member of the Board of Management of DEUTZ AG responsible for Sales/Service & Marketing, also shared his enthusiasm: “We are pleased to have Takeuchi as a customer in the compact excavator industry. Takeuchi is widely respected as one of the top manufacturers in this segment, and we are looking forward to a successful partnership together.”
