Embracing DEUTZ’s Heritage: Introducing the New Gas Engines G2.2 and G2.9
DEUTZ’s latest gas engines, the G2.2 and G2.9, signify a return to the company’s origins while offering customers enhanced flexibility.
These engines are especially well-suited for equipment intended for use in enclosed spaces, as liquid gas emits significantly fewer emissions compared to diesel fuel.
Developed in line with the long-term agreement DEUTZ signed with Kion, which encompasses the Linde brand’s large forklift trucks in its premium platforms, the newly developed DEUTZ 2.2-L engine in diesel and LPG versions will power these machines.
The two gas engines will be available in the market by 2019, meeting the EU Stage 5 emissions regulations by utilising a three-way catalytic converter without requiring an exhaust after-treatment system.
The gas variant boasts an output of up to 42kW, marking a significant departure from DEUTZ’s diesel-only product range. Furthermore, all variants of the 2.2 and 2.9 engines are based on the same engine platform, providing customers with extensive synergies in terms of integration, including connections and spare parts. This synergy translates into cost savings and reduced development efforts.
Michael Wellenzohn, a member of the DEUTZ AG Board of Management responsible for Sales/Service & Marketing, affirms the company’s commitment to delivering the best solutions to each customer: “By expanding our product range with the 2.2, we reaffirm DEUTZ’s promise to provide optimal solutions. Our new gas engines not only broaden our power output range but also enable us to explore the growing potential of alternative fuels.”
By expanding our product range with the TCD 2.2 we are re-affirming the DEUTZ promise to always provide the best possible solution for each individual customer.
Gas engines are not unfamiliar territory for DEUTZ; in fact, they represent a return to the company’s roots. DEUTZ’s very first engine in 1867 was an atmospheric gas-powered engine, and gas fuel also powered the world’s first four-stroke engine, the Ottomotor, developed in 1876 by DEUTZ’s founder, Nicolaus August Otto. Throughout its history, DEUTZ has continued to innovate with numerous gas-powered engines.
